This visa route is for non-UK nationals in a genuine and ongoing relationship with a British citizen or someone settled in the UK. It includes married couples, civil partners, and unmarried partners. Key Requirements (Updated April 2024)

To be eligible for a Spouse or Partner visa, you generally must:

✅ Be in a genuine and subsisting relationship
✅ Intend to live together permanently in the UK
✅ Meet the financial requirement: £29,000 per year(from April 2024)
✅ Have suitable accommodation in the UK
✅ Demonstrate English language ability:

• A1 for initial entry from abroad

• A2 at FLR(M) extension stage

• B1 when applying for settlement (ILR)

✅ If not married or in a civil partnership:

• Show 2+ years of cohabitation in a relationship “akin to marriage”

Transitional Arrangements

If your visa was granted before April 2024, you may still qualify under the previous income threshold of £18,600 — provided you remain on the same visa route and continue to meet all extension and settlement requirements.
